About
A photo library that stays with you.
Pixal gives you what makes cloud photo services pleasant: a timeline, search that understands what is in a picture, faces, maps and memories. It does all of it on your own computer, with no account, no upload and no subscription.

Why it exists
Convenience shouldn’t cost you your privacy.
Most of us keep years of photos in a cloud service because it is the easiest way to find anything again. The price is that the whole library, faces and places included, lives on someone else’s servers, and getting it back out is hard work.
Pixal does the same job without the cloud. Today’s computers are fast enough to recognise faces, read the text in a photo and understand what it shows, all by themselves. So Pixal indexes the folders you already have, leaves every file exactly where it is, and keeps everything it learns on your own disk.
The result is a library that feels like the cloud ones, and belongs entirely to you.
What it stands for
Four promises, kept in code
Local by design
Indexing, face grouping, search and maps all run on your computer. There is no Pixal server to send anything to.
Free, with no catch
No subscription, no paid tier, no ads and no account. Free to download and free to keep using.
Honest about the network
Every connection the app makes is listed in the privacy policy, and most of them can be switched off.
Your files stay yours
Originals are never moved, renamed or rewritten. Leaving Pixal is as easy as uninstalling it.
The developer
Nouman
Independent developer
Pixal is designed, built and maintained by Nouman. The app, this website and every release come from one person, so when you report a bug or send an idea, you are talking to the person who will act on it.
See it for yourself
Free for Windows. Your photos never leave your computer.
